Reflection:

This month I really noticed my reading rate went down. This is probably because of the switch from in school to online. I found myself being really unmotivated to do anything while I was at home, not only that but the semester was coming to an end and there were a lot of assignments and tests going around in my other classes as they  needed to come to a wrap. Although I wanted to end this class with a strong finish in my reading ladder it ended up decreasing but I will keep trying to increase my reading rate even after this semester ends as I will be taking English next semester.

Review:

My whole truth – ☆☆☆

I gave this novel three stars because I really enjoyed reading in the start but as I got to the middle and end I found the author had just gotten lazy and the climax just wasn’t there for me. I found this novel really predictable, I figured out the ending way before I finished the novel and for me that was a real turn down as the author had such a strong start in the beginning. Although I wasn’t too happy with the ending I still give this novel three stars as the strat was really well written and and the plot itself was really good.

Blind Willow Sleeping Woman – ☆☆☆

Blind Willow Sleeping Woman is a collection of short stories by Haruki Murakami. I gave this book three stars because the writing in each short story is really well written but I often find I get a little board with Murakami’s writing as I find he often repeats himself throughout each short story. One thing I really like about this book is that when the story ends the ending is very vaguely written so when the readers finish they are able to use their own imagination to perceive what happens to the characters. Although I have not finished this book I do want to keep reading the leftover short stories.

How to be a poet -☆☆☆

How to be a poet is a novel that is written in two parts the first part of the poetry novel is written through blackout poetry the second half is a collection of poems. I gave this book three stars because I really liked the concept of the novel and how the first half of the novel is all written in blackout poetry. I enjoyed the book so far. I am hoping to be able to finish this book soon.

The book of Awesome -☆☆☆☆

The book of awesome is this fun book which just talks about the small things in life that just make life a little more awesome. I gave this book four stars because reading this made me realize how much I never appreciated the small things in life, and while reading this book during a pandemic it just made me really happy and filled my day up with a little sweetness. I also gave this book  four stars because it was easy and quick to read as there weren’t any long chapters or a storyline to keep up with, it was more like short paragraphs per page so this made it easy to read while being loaded with lots of school work.

Goal:

Although creative writing has come to an end I can say that one lesson I took from this class was to read a lot as it will help a lot with writing and I must say this is very true. Although this time my reading rate did not do me any justice, I will keep working hard to read lot’s more books next semester and bring my reading rate up, as I have English next semester and the practice of reading everyday will really help me in class.
