Reflection:

This month I did find that I was reading much more often and was making time in my schedule to read than I was last month. Even though I didn’t reach my goal from last month to read at least four books, I am proud that I did bring my reading rate up higher and I  also challenged myself this month  to read books harder than my level. In all I am really proud of myself this month as I challenged myself to read harder books than I usually read and I enjoyed all three books I read.

Review:

Somewhere only we know – ☆☆☆☆

Somewhere only know takes you through the journey of famous K- Pop idol Lucky and her adventure in Hong Kong China. The story takes an unexpected turn when Lucky turns to a guy named Jack to show her around the city. As both characters spend an eventful day with each other some secrets come out and some lies get told but that doesn’t stop them from falling for each other until unexpected problems arise.  Unlike other romance novel plots, the story to this plot is taking turns every page. The reason this book was not a full five stars for me was that the ending lacked. The book was so good but the ending just didn’t fulfill the expectation that the book had set from the beginning.

Whisky words and a shovel – ☆☆☆☆

Unlike most of my reads, I decided to switch it up with a poetry book. This book took me through the life of a scared person who had been broken many times by life and by other people. But with a strong heart and mind, this person kept on going through life until they found someone like them as well and both people together were able to mend each other broken hearts and cherish a new love being born. I gave this book four stars because although it wasn’t something I always read I enjoyed this book, and would most definitely recommend it to someone who likes to read and learn about personal growth as well as learning to live while hurting.

Questions for Ada – ☆☆☆☆

Question for Ada was a very unique story written in poetry form. It started as someone who was broken but then took an unexpected turn and the author began talking about rape, abuse, and cheating. This book taught me about some of the things women face in relationships at a young age. Although this book was eye-opening it was a very heavy topic and even though it ended off with the author recovering from all these battle scars the weight of the book was very heavy for me. That is one reason I gave this book four stars, another reason I gave this book a four was because I found myself reading repetition in the authors work, I wasn’t sure if that was how the author wanted to address all these concerns or whether it was unintentional. But because of that repetition, I found myself getting bored easily. Other than that I would recommend this book to someone who likes to read about one’s growth and change after being hurt.

Goal:

My goal for next month is to increase my reading rate by 10 pages and read at least four books. I know I will be able to achieve this goal as we will be having a break in November and it will be the perfect opportunity to finish books. I also know that I have the capability to read more than three books in a month. I just need to prioritize my time more wisely and make time in my schedule to read.
